Step 1: First I gathered all of Anna’s library t-shirts and cut out the design on each one. I cut them out larger than what I wanted for the finished product so that I could square up all the sides later.
Step 2: I then ironed on interfacing to the backs of all the t-shirts and cut them to final size. I used interfacing that had lines on it for all the colored t-shirts and plain white interfacing for all the white t-shirts. This used up what I had already in my stash.
Step 3: Next I placed the cut shirt pieces down and decided on a pattern that I liked.
Step 4: I then began sewing together the t-shirts using a gray background fabric.
Step 5: Next I framed all the rows in with more of my background fabric.
Step 6: Then I made my quilt sandwich with my backing fabric, batting, and quilt top. I used safety pins to secure the layers together.
Step 7: I started in the center and machine-quilted a loopy-meander over the entire project. I did not quilt over the logo print, just around it.
Step 8: I trimmed up the sides, made it square, and added a binding around the edges. I made a tag to secure on the back that has a story of the quilt.
Step 9:This was my second quilt and the first ever machine quilting experience. There are small imperfections and room to expand my knowledge. I love the fact that now Anna’s t-shirts can be out and seen instead of in a box:)
